Just a few lines to tell you how proud we feel about the quality of food we serve.
At our outlets we only use original Italian ingredients and preparation in order to make our food taste exactly as it does in Italy.
Our pasta is made at the time of ordering, we don’t use any pre-cooked or pre-boiled pasta, we don’t make short cuts in-fact we might require some extra time to prepare our dishes as they are made fresh from scratch, we are promoters of the “slow food” concept being it in its preparation and consumption
so if you are
looking for a fast food type of place then you might
find a lot of those around but certainly not us.
We strive to serve you the “Italian food”
without compromise so we do not serve any ketchup or
mayonaise or jalapegnos with our pizzas.
Our pizzas have a very thin and slightly burnt crust (as it is done in Rome) this is a sign of Wood-Fired oven baking, to us Italians this is the best part of the Pizza.
Our dough is freshly made daily according to our own recipe, involving a special blend of hard and soft flour imported directly from Naples (south Italy) which produces this unique combination of crunchiness and softness. Simply tasteful and delicious.
Our pizzas are laid by hand with the traditional wood rolling pin on our marble preparation tables right in front of our customers.
We use the best Italian ingredients available such as actual “Parmiggiano Reggiano” (from Reggio Emilia, Italy) we use the rarest quality of mozzarella such as the Buffalo mozzarella kept in its own milk, freshly imported from Caserta (south of Italy) we use “Pecorino Romano” and “Provola Piccante” and “Scamorza affumicata” and “Gorgonzola cheese”... products most of you have not even heard of….products that these days are very, very hard to find in any restaurant meal.
We bake our Pizza toppings in our wood-fired oven, Red and Yellow peppers, zucchini, eggplants, potatoes…all is freshly baked daily and the aroma is just amazing…we do not use any sort of frozen or ready made toppings.
At 800PIZZA we aim at keeping the ancient traditions
alive so that you can appreciate the flavor of the traditional
& authentic Italian pizza…you’ll be
the judge… Buon appetito.
Healthy Pizza
According to the 2010 data available
on the WHO website, in the USA
44.2% of the male population over 15 years of age is
obese while in Italy, obesity is at 14.4%!
In Italy we eat a lot of pizzas! So how is this possible?
Because in a Traditional and authentic Italian
pizza health and nutrition are within the fresh
and natural ingredients it is made of:
The tomato sauce we use (as opposed
to tomato surrogate with colorants and preservatives)
comes from Italian plum tomatoes reach in healthy antioxidants
such as beta-carotene and lycopene which enhance immunity
and protect against toxins.
The flour we use is made in Naples,
Italy, exclusively for 800PIZZA and it is a special
blend of hard, soft and whole wheat allowing a longer
and more stable release of energy after consumption
Our fresh dough has no sugar, butter
or fat of any sort added to it.
In 2008 the European Union granted to Mozzarella di
Bufala Campana a Protected Geographical Status
with the “P.D.O.” indicator; our buffalo
mozzarella (as opposed to commercial cheese
made from powder milk or cheese production leftovers)
is indeed P.D.O. and it is flown in fresh, every week,
from Caserta, Italy, this is naturally rich in calcium
and protein, high in live lactic ferments, vitamins
and mineral salt content.
The Extra Virgin Olive Oil we use (as
opposed to vegetable oil or other transfat reach greasing
agents) is also certified as P.D.O. and cold extracted
in Umbria, Italy, from Moraiolo olives, this oil is
reach in vitamin E as well as very healthy antioxidants
such as Polyphenols.
Fresh basil leaves (as opposed to artificial
flavorings and spices) are rich in fibers and beta-carotene
a great ally in the fight against free radicals.
Our pizzas are baked in a custom built Italian wood
burning stone oven which provides the pizza
with a wholesome aroma that cannot be achieved with
other types of cooking; it creates a unique
and wonderful smokey flavor through the open
flame of the burning olive wood (which we also import
from Italy), the intense heat it generates and the direct
contact between the dough and the stones (as opposed
to pan fried pizza).
Not only a truly healthy pizza untouched by
the global consumerism but a really flavorful one true
to my country culinary heritage.
